What is Degree ?

A degree is a piece of paper that certifies that the person concerned has studied a particular domain or a subject. 

A degree is essential for getting jobs in the govt. And private sectors. A degree improves your knowledge. 

What is Skill ?

A skill is an ability to use knowledge effectively. This refers to the capacity to achieve specific outcomes with resolute focus, frequently constrained by a set amount of time, energy, or both.

Skills is a need of the hour. 

Simple Introduction 

While both degrees and skills hold significance, their relevance varies by context. For instance, students in school or college should prioritize obtaining a degree, whereas skills can be developed through personal effort and self-discipline.

Why is a degree more important than skills?

1. A degree authenticates you -

When you are applying for a job the only connection between you and your employer is your C. V. On your C. V. The top section is always about your educational degrees.

2. A Degree improve your confidence -

When you have a proper degree from a reputed college and university, then it improves your confidence, especially in an interview. The degree makes a person more confident in his approach and outlook.

3. A Degree gives you respect and a social reputation -

If you have a degree from a prestigious college and university then you will get respect & admiration in society. A degree gives you more opportunities to get jobs and earn more money.

4. Students need to get a degree with good numbers -

For the bright future of students, it is necessary to get a degree with good numbers in today's era. So first of all, a student has to get a proper degree.

Points In Favour Of Skills -

Why are Skills more important than degree ?

1. Skills help you achieve success -

A degree may secure a job, but it won't facilitate further growth without the accompanying skills. As the saying goes— It's said -

"Possessing only a degree without skills means you might be hired in the morning but let go by evening."

2. Skills are not taught in schools and colleges -

Different types of skills are required for a successful person like -

Communication, leadership, decision - making, time-management, problem - Solving, team work, critical-thinking, adaptability, effective public - speaking etc.

3. Your Skills make you independent -

If you have a good skills then you don't need degrees to start your business. You can handle the ups and downs of your business very easily with your good skills. 

4. Many great celebrities have skills but no degrees-

Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Aamir Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Mary kom, Henry Ford etc. Great people have great skills to rule over the world.

Conclusion - 

Degrees and Skills are two sides of the same coin. 

Achieving success in life's competition requires both a degree and relevant skills.

A degree without the skill would be as empty as a skill without the degree. 

My personal Opinion -

Skills are more important than degree at present time. 

For example -

It is necessary to have a B. Ed degree for a teacher but how to teach well, this is a skill. Your skills will improve your position.
